Month One

Baby's Strong Neck!

A Smile? I'd like to think so....

We have hit the month mark and I thought I'd be kinda sad that she's growing so fast but she's changing so much every week that it's so much fun and different so not sad, although she should slow down just a bit :) She's sleeping pretty good and we're still just truckin away at our little schedule. She's really starting to use her voice more and her newest nickname from daddy is shuggie and I call her squirmy squirmerson. Last night (night before 5 weeks) she slept in her room for the first time.....now that was sad but we want her to get use to those surroundings before she gets bigger and decides she loves mom and dads room best :) But she seemed to enjoy it and slept well. But it was hard not having her right next to me in the pack n play. Ahhhh, my first "letting go..." Not a fan and I'm sure it will get harder. Enjoy the pics....

Week 3 - More growing

This week we had such a great time with daddy being home. Daddy helped teach mom that going out and running errands with baby isn't so scary. But it was so nice to have daddy there to help out cause little miss is a handful at times. She's getting so big as I see all of these pictures compared to Week 1. I want her to grow up but not too fast. Sydney's learning to use her voice more. The other morning she was talking some and her eyes got all big like "what was that....was that me?!" It was super cute. She's also really starting to notice things visually. She really loves to stare at the Jungle Book wall. Sleeping is going well. She usually sleeps about 4-5 hours then another 2-3 hours after that. It could be worse for sure as many of my girlfriends and sisters tell me so I can't complain :) We had our first bath this week. The doc said she most likely won't like it but she loved it. She just laid there and stared at us, it was super cute. So we've got our little routine down with bathtime now. Enjoy the pics!

Week 2 - Out and about

Lots going on this week, we are trying to get her out and about so we don't feel cooped up in the house all the time. The weather is awesome out and we should try to enjoy it. Also, Nana went home this week which was very sad but grandma and grandpa came up to stay for a quick visit before their Hawaii trip and then daddy is staying home with mom next week so not quite alone just yet :) I'm fearful for it to just be me and Syd. How will I survive.

Week 1 - Baby Sydney

Week 1 - Little miss is keeping us very busy. Adjusting to new parents has been a lot different than I had ever imagined. No book can ever prepare you for this. I think the first week was a big blur cause it just didn't click that I'm a new mom. Somedays I still don't believe that I'm a mom....a freaking PARENT!! Sydney like I mentioned in my last post is a great eater. She came out looking to eat and hasn't stopped since. We introduced a binky to her on day 2 because I was sore being used as a binky ;) We went home on the 10th. Scott and I were both really ready to be home and start this whole parenting thing on our own. She's cute as a button, even at 3 in the morning :) Everyone is saying she looks like Scotty but I think she has my toes (thank god) and my mouth. She's got striking blue eyes and pretty lashes. I just can't wait for her to start really being able to see us and smile and giggle. She's got the crying game down to a "T" that is for sure. Scott says she's got her mother's attitude already when she wants something. I have to agree with him haha When she is hungry she lets the world know.

Labor and Delivery!!!

Wow, it's been a while since I"ve posted, I know I know I"m awful at keeping up with this. But as we get more adjusted and settled the more I plan on keeping up with things. So let's start from the beginning.

Day 0 - About 2 weeks late and still waiting. Poor mom and dad have been here for over 2 weeks now and we're all waiting ever so patiently. Monday the 9th is the scheduled induction date but still in my heart I don't want to induce yet I'm so worried something is going to go wrong. It's Sunday the 8th and we are watching yet another lame movie that Scotty picked out from Netflix:) We get into bed around midnight and bam I'm starting to have contractions more frequently. I get up, figure they'll go away and take a bath and shower to help calm myself. Well all I do is get really hot and wish i was back in bed so I get back in bed and wake Scott up and say I think we should start timing them. We're about 6 minutes apart and they aren't the lame contractions I had been having for many weeks prior to this. I call the doc and she says come on in when you are ready and can't take the pain anymore. I mean "can't take the pain" well it's 1am and I'm really tired so can't take the pain means I can't sleep. We get to about 4 minutes apart and I wake up Scotty again and say it's time to go. We get mom and dad up and pack everything up and head out the door. I call Kelsy, Vick, Nicole, Katherine and Courtney and let them know we are on our way and that we'll keep them posted. We arrive at Swedish around 130am and they check me and I'm about 3 cm at this point and still 80% effaced (I've been 80% effaced for about 3 weeks now). They tell the doctor and they decide to admit me. At this point I still feel like this is not really happening but the contractions really aren't fun at all. I get admitted and change into my sexy gown and jump back into bed. Scott and I go for a few walks down the hall and I bounce on the big ball and took a bath and we're just all hanging out. Scott calls his parents and they are on their way now as well. We have a nice big delivery room for lots of people to be in but doc tells us it's going to be a long while before any action happens. At about 8am, I text Kelsy and tell her that the contractions really really suck and she says just get your epidural. Well I said I wanted to hold off and she asked me why.....and I couldn't answer that!!! So I immediately requested my epidural at around 5cm at 8am. They were quick and the guy that did it was really nice and walked me through it. I was super super nervous but it went really well and i was feeling good in no time!! I highly recommend drugs!! Once it kicked in I was off to sleep which was really nice since I didn't get any sleep during the night.
Thankfully the epidural didn't slow down labor at all and I progressed slowly but as expected throughout the day. By about 4ish it was time to push. Well I started to get really really sick to my tummy. I hadn't eaten anything since the prior day around 8pm and it's been about 20 hours and you can't eat or drink anything once you get your epidural. Plus they say one of the side effects of labor can be nausea. Leave it to me to get it :) Once I got more drugs to make me feel better it was time to push push push. I pushed for about 2 hours and there she came. It was the most amazing experience I've ever experienced!! As much as I wasn't a fan of pregnancy the birthing experience was awesome. It almost makes me want another one... one day......

Ok I'm going to publish this post and start the good stuff next!!

Home Stretch Part II

Ok sorry for not being more on top of updating the blog. Life has been busy these last few weeks...well months and yes I know it's going to get busier but that's my excuse and I'm sticking with it :) Sydney is getting bigger every day it seems. She's still head down and her little legs are currently tucked under my left rib cage. She's moving a ton and has quite a sleeping schedule which is nice to be able to monitor. We have weekly appointments now and they started last week (week 37) where they let me know not much has happened. I'm really hoping for some more action this week. I'm so ready for her to be here I can't even handle it. Scott still thinks she's going to come right on schedule on the 28th but I say it'll be earlier. I've made my list of things to pack and plan on packing this week. Car seat is still in the mail and should be here by this Wed then we'll install that and be all set. You'll notice in the pics I'm adding that she has all the clothes she's gonna need for quite some time. This girl is gonna be stylish. I think other than the last little things to get done we are pretty much ready or I guess ready as we'll ever be. This Thursday we are going on our tour of the hospital to get the "what do we do" when the time comes. I've been waking up in the middle of the night thinking ok one of these nights it's gonna be different.....I'll be in labor!!! I'm so ready to not be prego anymore yet so freaked out that my time is right around the corner. Today for mother's day Scotty got me a bluetooth so we're nice and safe while driving around with Syd in the car. The pic of Scott will be Syd's coming home outfit. The little gown is the same dress that I wore home from the hospital many moons ago so thought it would be special to carry on the tradition.
We still don't have a chair for the nursery, had a hard time finding one that will go up our narrow stairs so will most likely just run to target and grab one so there is something to sit in. Nothing like last minute :) Will update the blog weekly....I swear!!! Until little miss decides to join us!!! Love to all. Scott, Sarah and Sydney (in utero)
